Flick: We must respect Galatasaray, every match starts from zero
Hans Flick, the head coach of FC Barcelona, spoke about the upcoming match against Galatasaray, emphasizing the need to prepare well for the challenging atmosphere at the Turkish team's stadium. He stressed the importance of cohesion and defensive work against an opponent with notable attacking capabilities.
Regarding the pressures associated with being one of the best teams, Barcelona, Flick said: "I don't know if it's about pressure or if it's a result of the way we train. I always say that I am very happy with our training methods and the atmosphere within the team, but every match is different and starts from zero. It will be a tough encounter, and we have to prove our abilities. It is an honor to be here, but things in football can change, and it is clear that everyone is ready for the match."
Regarding whether FC Barcelona are contenders for victory, the German coach explained: "It is an honor to be in this position, we are working hard, and for me, there is still a long way to go until the end. We have to approach each match with the same mentality we started the season with, and it is clear that having possession of the ball gives us confidence."
Regarding Galatasaray's attacking capabilities and how to limit the threat of Victor Osimhen, Flick said: "First, we have to be ready; it is one of the best atmospheres in the world, and some of the scenes we see here are amazing. The team has developed a lot against big teams and has good players. It is important for us to move together and work collectively in defense."
Flick declined to discuss his preference for including Vinicius Junior in the Clasico, saying: "You can ask me this question in two weeks."
The coach declined to comment on Real Madrid's criticism of the refereeing, stating that he does not answer questions related to other clubs. He said: "I hope you learn someday that I never answer questions related to other teams. We are about to play against Galatasaray, so let's respect Galatasaray and its wonderful stadium and unique atmosphere."
Regarding Gabriel Jesus's readiness to participate, the German coach explained: "Of course, he is ready to play, we do not know yet whether he will participate, and we will make the decision after training. We are very happy with him; his joining was a little surprise, and we must acknowledge that. His behavior is excellent, and he is a great player."
Regarding the players' ongoing desire to achieve titles, Flick said: "Certainly, we have this thirst, and I share it with the team. Many players have won the World Cup, and we have confirmed whether they still possess this desire, and the answer is yes. It is difficult, but they are still hungry for success. We have to work for the fans and families; the road is tough and still long."
Regarding Alexey Patrakov, the young Galatasaray player, Flick said: "I have watched many matches, and after the last game, I must say he is a fantastic player. If you are young and have talent, why not dream? We have to try everything."
The German coach added regarding the team's goal for the match: "All I want is to win, and that is what we all want, it is our goal, and I am very happy to see the players enjoying playing football."
