Amorim: It's time to step on the gas and face US Sassuolo
Ruben Amorim, the Portuguese manager of AC Milan, has stressed the importance of taking advantage of the upcoming phase to secure positive results. This statement came during a press conference held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, ahead of the match against US Sassuolo in the sixth round of Serie A.
Amorim stated that the international break was beneficial in various aspects, explaining that its impact depends on the number of injuries and the participation of players with their national teams. He added that some players had the opportunity to rest, while others played numerous matches.
The coach of AC Milan added that the team took advantage of the break to work on new ideas, pointing out the readiness of Gonzalo Ramos, Ismaël Gachari, and Luis Morera, and stressing the importance of achieving victory in the upcoming match. He also emphasized the need to increase the creation of chances in front of goal to help all strikers score, not just Ramos.
Regarding tactical options, Amorim explained that playing with three or four defenders depends on the nature of the match, emphasizing that he is considering some changes to surprise the opponent. However, he refused to disclose his plan to face US Sassuolo so as not to give his coach Alberto Aquilani any prior information.
Amorim praised the US Sassuolo coach, highlighting his modern ideas and focus on possession and pressing at the right times. He also confirmed that young striker Francesco Camarda will receive more playing minutes in the upcoming period, while he expects important roles from Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Fomento Hutchinson in the coming matches.
