Xhaka in heated exchange with local fans while shopping with family
Granite Xhaka, Sunderland's captain, was involved in a heated exchange with several local fans while shopping with his family near Newcastle on Friday, according to reports.
According to circulating accounts, the situation began after some fans directed provocative comments at the Swiss midfielder concerning the fine he received for obtaining a fake Covid certificate in 2022.
Reports indicate that these comments angered Xhaka, leading to a heated exchange of words between him and the fans during his family outing.
The public prosecutor's office in Lucerne, Switzerland, has issued a ruling against Granit Xhaka, the captain of the Swiss national team and Sunderland player, after he admitted to obtaining a forged vaccination certificate against the coronavirus in 2022, during his time playing with Arsenal.
The judge has fined Granit Xhaka 150,000 Swiss francs, equivalent to 50 days of fines at 3,000 francs per day, with the execution of the penalty suspended for two years. Under the ruling, Xhaka will not be required to pay the fine unless he commits a new criminal offense during the probation period.
