Spalletti reshapes Juventus defence with Bremer as the key
Luciano Spalletti, Juventus' head coach, is working on strengthening the defensive line during the international break, with the defense almost fully fit except for the absences of Kalulu and Luchioni. The coach places great importance on the defensive aspect, considering it one of the foundations the team relies on to build a successful phase.
In their first six matches of the season, Juventus have kept clean sheets in four games, while conceding goals against AC Milan and in the surprising defeat to US Sassuolo. The team responded well in the following two matches, managing to keep a clean sheet against Atalanta, in a more important test after their victory over Nick.
Gleison Bremer's importance is particularly highlighted in Spalletti's plans, as the Brazilian defender has gradually regained his previous level following a serious knee injury. Bremer scored two goals in five league matches against Frosinone and Atalanta, and he appeared more impressive after Juventus switched to playing with three defenders against Nice and Atalanta.
The report suggests that the three-man defensive system gives Bremer more space to showcase his strengths, particularly in physical duels, tackling, and positioning, with Kalulu and Luchumi alongside him. Spalletti is also working on improving the speed of ball movement and giving Bremer a larger role in building play.
Meanwhile, Juventus are preparing to reintegrate Federico Gatti and Lloyd Kelly into their plans, alongside Andrea Cambiaso nearing full return. The team will face a busy schedule after the break, as they will play nine matches over 29 days, making the readiness of all defensive players a crucial factor in the upcoming phase.
Juventus will begin their return to league competition against Cagliari, who currently have the strongest defense in the tournament after conceding only two goals.
