Carnivale moves to build Italian Juventus with Palmisani and Romano among the list
Juventus's project to rebuild a team more reliant on Italian players is gradually taking shape, with the former Sassuolo CEO, Giovani Carnevali, moving to study several names that could form the core of the team in the upcoming period.
A report from "Tuttosport" indicates that Juventus are experiencing a rare phase regarding Italian representation in the national team, as there is currently only goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario in the Italian squad, serving as the third-choice keeper. This comes after years in which the Old Lady was one of the key clubs relied upon by the national team for call-ups.
During the recent transfer window, Juventus have signed nine new players for the first team, but only two of them are Italian, namely Guglielmo Vicario and Giovani Ekatour.
Luciano Spalletti hopes to have Ekator back, who has been unable to participate regularly since the start of the season due to injury. He is currently working on regaining his fitness, with a possible return between the end of October and the beginning of November.
As part of a plan to restore an Italian identity to their squad, Juventus have identified several names, including Parma goalkeeper Alessandro Palmisani and Italian midfielder Manuel Romano. The list also includes other names the club is considering in anticipation of future moves in the transfer market.
This move comes as part of Juventus's attempt to restore the base of Italian players that used to represent an essential part of the team's identity in past years.
