Gasperini prepares De Roon to replace Cristante against Como
AS Roma players are set to enjoy three days off after coach Gian Piero Gasperini granted them a long weekend. The team will return to training on Tuesday afternoon at the Trigoria training center.
Gasperini aims to use the beginning of the week to prepare for the important clash against Como, scheduled for Sunday, October 11, amid expectations that Bryan Cristante will miss the match due to a knee injury.
In the absence of Cristante, Gasperini seems to have a ready option to replace him, as the coach is set to rely on Dutchman Marten de Roon, who joined AS Roma in the final hours of the transfer market.
De Roon has not started any match for AS Roma so far, but he may get his first chance in the starting lineup against Como, as the "Corriere della Sera" reports that he is the leading candidate to partner with Manu Koné in midfield.
De Roon has been one of the few players to spend the entire international break at Trigoria, giving him an added advantage with Gasperini, who may start him against Como.
