Riyad Mahrez nears Qatar Stars League

Algerian Riyad Mahrez is close to embarking on a new experience outside European and Saudi leagues, having reached a verbal agreement with Al-Shamal, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, in preparation for joining the club in the near future.

According to the same source, the agreement between Mahrez and the Qatari club concerns a short-term contract, with the player set to complete the necessary procedures to finalize his transfer after leaving Al-Ahli in June, making him a free agent able to choose his new destination.

Riyad Mahrez is nearing a move to the Qatar Stars League after a successful career in European football, where he shone in the shirt of Leicester before moving to Manchester City, and then continued his professional journey outside Europe through Al-Ahli.

If the deal is officially completed, the former captain of the Algerian national team will begin a new chapter in his football career in the Qatar Stars League, after many years of participating in the most prominent European competitions, amid anticipation for what the final steps of the transfer will yield.
