Bordeaux have begun to see signs of emerging from their deep crisis after the historic club was sold to the British investment fund Park Bench for a nominal fee of one euro.

The deal was led by businessman Gérard López, who is also known for his connection with the management of Boavista. The symbolic price of the deal relates to the investment fund's commitment to cover the existing debts of the club.

Bordeaux stated in an official announcement: "This operation has been completed for a nominal euro, with debts being assumed. As part of the legal procedures for the acquisition, buyers will be heard in the coming days by the regional oversight committee for football management in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine area. The signing of this agreement represents an important milestone for the future of the Girondins de Bordeaux."

According to French media, the club's debt repayment period will be extended from 10 to 12 years, with the total amount reduced from €26 million to €13 million as part of the new financial restructuring plan.

Gérard Lopez tried to retain a stake in Bordeaux, initially proposing to keep 15% of the capital with a protection clause against dilution, but his proposal was rejected. He then lowered his request to 10%, but this proposal was also met with rejection.

Bordeaux are experiencing one of the toughest phases in their history as they have dropped to low levels of French football in recent years, awaiting the new acquisition process to provide them with an opportunity to rebuild the club and regain their status.
