Chelsea consider Barcelona defender as an option for January

The source clarified that Koundé is open to a move to Chelsea, who were close to signing him in 2022 before Barcelona secured the deal in their favour from Sevilla. The French defender is proficient in playing both right-back and centre-back positions.

Koundé's situation has changed in recent months under Hans Flick's management, as he has fallen down the pecking order with the coach relying on Eric García and João Cancelo. The player has started just one match in La Liga this season.

Barcelona have informed Jules Koundé's representatives about the possibility of selling him in 2027, with a potential departure in January also on the table. Xavi Alonso is looking to strengthen his options at right-back, while Chelsea are assessing Malo Gusto's future.

Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Manchester United have shown interest in the possibility of signing Jules Koundé, along with Bayern Munich and clubs from the Saudi league. However, sources indicate that the player's priority at the moment is to continue in Europe.
