Italy thrash Turkey 4-1 to regain balance in the UEFA Nations League

Italy secured a significant victory over their hosts Turkey with a score of 4-1 on Monday evening, in the second round of the UEFA Nations League. This win allowed the Azzurri to bounce back from their opening round defeat against Belgium and achieve their first victory in the tournament.

Italy started the match strongly, taking the lead early through Alessandro Bastoni in the 9th minute, before Davide Frattesi added a second goal in the 22nd minute, capitalising on a rebound inside the penalty area, as the visitors clearly maintained their advantage.

The Italian onslaught did not stop, as Michael Caioti extended Italy's lead with a third goal in the 27th minute, following a fine pass from Francesco Pio Esposito, allowing the Italian national team to finish the first half ahead by three goals to nil.

With the start of the second half, Turkey managed to reduce the deficit through Barış Alper Yılmaz in the 47th minute, but Italy quickly responded through Francesco Pio Esposito in the 50th minute, restoring the three-goal margin and securing the victory for the Azzurri with a score of 4-1.

With this result, Italy earn their first three points in the UEFA Nations League, following their loss to Belgium in the opening round, while Turkey remains without points after suffering their second consecutive defeat, marking a strong start for the Azzurri under Roberto Mancini.
