Piqué's ban confirmed: 6-match suspension and 2-month ban from duties

The Spanish Court of Arbitration for Sport has upheld the penalty imposed on Gerard Piqué, the major shareholder of Andorra, following the events that occurred after the team's match against Albacete last May.

The Spanish Football Federation's disciplinary committee has suspended Piqué for 6 matches and banned him from his duties for two months due to his behavior towards referees in the tunnel of the dressing rooms after the match, before the penalty was upheld by the appeals committee.

One of the main points of contention was the extent to which the disciplinary committees had the right to punish Piqué, despite him not holding an official position within the administrative structure of Andorra.

The court ruled that Piqué can be treated as a 'manager or actual responsible person' at the club, based on a number of factors, including his connection to Andorra through the company Kosmos, his relationship with the management body, his regular appearance as a member of the staff, as well as his involvement in decisions and actions during the incident in defense of the club's interests.

The court's decisions also included a partial closure of Andorra's stadium for two matches, which includes the guest area and the box.

Sporting director Jomi Nogues has been banned for 6 matches and suspended from his duties for two months, while club representative Cristian Lanzarotti has received a 3-match ban and a two-month suspension. This comes as a result of their protests against the referees.

The court has overturned the sanction against Andorra president Ferran Vilasques, which had barred him from performing his duties for four months, after it found that the application of the regulation was not correct in the incident that occurred in the parking lot, considering that his actions against the delegation staff fell within the scope of an attempt.
