Belaïli bids farewell to Meriah with touching message

Algerian Youssef Belaïli, winger for Espérance Tunis, has sent an emotional message to his former teammate Yassine Meriah, defender for the Tunisian national team, following the latter's announcement to retire from football.

Meriayah, aged 33, has announced his retirement from playing, content with what he has achieved over the past years, after a successful career with the Tunisian national team and several clubs, including Espérance and Étoile du Sahel.

Belaïli has made sure to bid farewell to his former teammate Meryah through his official account on Instagram, expressing his great appreciation for what Meryah has contributed and praising his standing in African football.

The star of Espérance wrote in his message: "We will never forget you, my brother.. You are among the best defenders in Africa."

Belaïli's message reflects the strong bond that the players shared during the time they played together in the shirt of Espérance Tunis, as well as the Algerian winger's appreciation for the career that Meriah had on the pitch.

Meriayah was one of the standout players for Esperance in recent years before leaving the club during the last summer transfer window to join Tunisian side Africain.

The Tunisian defender's decision to retire from football comes after a series of injuries that plagued him throughout his career, preventing him from continuing his journey on the pitch, thus bringing an end to a remarkable career with clubs and the Tunisian national team.
