Officially.. Iraq to host Gulf Cup 28

The Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation has finalized the hosting of the next edition of the tournament, with 'Gulf 28' set to take place in Iraq following a meeting of the executive office in Jeddah.

The decision came during a meeting held on Monday alongside the Gulf 27 competitions, chaired by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Arabian Gulf Cup Football Association.

The executive office discussed the hosting file for 'Gulf 28', along with the future of Gulf championships and plans to develop the federation's competitions. It also reviewed updates on 'Gulf 27' and the upcoming events scheduled to be organized in the near future.

The Gulf Cup returns to Iraq after hosting the 25th edition in Basra in 2023, before the tournament moves to Kuwait, and then Saudi Arabia, which is hosting the current edition in Jeddah.

The Gulf Cup 28 will become the third edition hosted by Iraq, following the Gulf Cup 5 in Baghdad in 1979 and the Gulf Cup 25 in Basra in 2023, bringing the tournament back to Iraqi soil after three years.
