Tunisia held to a draw by Uganda in Africa Cup of Nations Qualification opener

The Tunisia national team settled for a draw against their Ugandan guests with a score of 1-1 in the match that took place on Thursday evening at the Hamadi Agrebi Stadium in Rades, as part of the first round of the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification for 2027.

Tunisia succeeded in opening the scoring early through Adem Arous, who found the net against Uganda in the 12th minute, before the visitors managed to come back into the match and equalize in the 68th minute through Rogers Mato, resulting in the match ending without a winner.

Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan made his return to the Tunisia national team in the match, while Ali Maaloul, the former Al Ahly FC star, watched from the bench.

In another match in the same group, Libya held Botswana to a 2-2 draw in the encounter that took place earlier today.

With these results, the Tunisian national team competes in Group 8 alongside Libya, Botswana, and Uganda in the battle for qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations 2027.

Tunisia will visit Botswana next Monday for the second round, while Uganda will host Libya next Tuesday.
