Christensen's absence from Barcelona could last for a long time
Andreas Christensen, defender of FC Barcelona, faces a long absence due to the muscle injury he sustained during the match against Sevilla, amid fears that his absence could extend to two months.
FC Barcelona has announced that Christensen is suffering from a muscle injury in the left quadriceps rectus femoris, without specifying the duration of his absence. According to the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", some estimates have suggested he could be out for between four and six weeks, but sources close to the player fear the absence could extend to two months.
The current international break is helping Hans Flick, especially with limited options in central defense, as he can rely on Pau Koubarsi and Gérard Martin, alongside Erik Garcia and Jules Koundé.
Flick also has other options in the back line, with the possibility of relying on Chavi Espart and João Cancelo in the full-back positions, and Alejandro Balde, while he can repurpose Brian Fariñas on the right side.
Barcelona and Villarreal could see the potential return of Christensen, but his recovery should not be rushed.
The Danish defender will miss eight matches during his absence, including five in LaLiga and three in the UEFA Champions League.
