Abdallah Bah, a Sunderland player, has chosen to represent Mauritania at the international level instead of France, having previously represented French teams at youth levels.

Bae is 23 years old, born in France, and received his training at Le Havre. He has also played 35 matches with France's under-17, under-19, and under-20 teams, including participating in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2022.

Midfielder Aitor López is set to make his debut for Mauritania during the current international break, having been called up by coach Aitor López Garay for the matches against Central African on September 24 and Benin on September 29 as part of the preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification 2027.

The decision for Aitor López to join the national team comes as a new addition for the Mauritania team, after the player, who previously wore the Sunderland shirt before moving to England, chose to represent his country of origin at the senior international level.
