Barcelona thrash Racing Santander 7-2 to maintain LaLiga lead
FC Barcelona achieved a significant victory against Racing Santander, winning 7-2 in the match that brought the two teams together in the sixth round of LaLiga at Spotify Camp Nou.
João Cancelo opened the scoring for FC Barcelona in the 8th minute with a powerful shot from outside the box, before Raphinha added the second goal in the 25th minute from a penalty.
Racing Santander reduced the deficit in the 31st minute through Magit Gaye, but Barcelona quickly regained their advantage after Asier Villalibre scored the third goal for the Catalan side with an own goal in the 36th minute.
Just before the end of the first half, Raphinha added FC Barcelona's fourth goal in the 42nd minute, while Lamine Yamal missed a penalty in the 45th minute, leaving the home side leading 4-1 at half-time.
In the second half, Racing Santander scored their second goal in the 65th minute through Yasser Al-Zubairi, following a mistake from Barcelona's goalkeeper Szczęsny, but Raphinha quickly responded by adding the fifth goal for the Catalan team from a penalty in the 67th minute.
Gabriel Jesus extended FC Barcelona's lead with a sixth goal in the 79th minute, before Lamine Yamal capped off the hosts' seven-goal haul in the 89th minute, after receiving a pass from Karim Adeyemi.
With this victory, FC Barcelona raised its tally to 18 points to stay at the top of the Spanish league table, while Racing Santander's total remains at 7 points in 10th place.
