Al-Taawoun ends contract with coach Zarko, names replacement

Al-Taawoun have parted ways with Serbian coach Žarko Lazić following a heavy defeat to Al-Hilal by six goals to nil in the 7th round of the Saudi Pro League.

Al-Taawoun have thanked Lazetic for the period he spent with the team, thus bringing an end to his coaching stint at the club following a difficult start to the current season.

The decision to sack the coach came after continued poor results, as Al-Taawoun failed to secure a victory in the first six rounds of the Saudi Pro League, managing only three points.

The team has earned three points from three draws, while suffering three defeats, before Al-Hilal's six-goal haul increased pressure on the coaching staff and management.

Lazitić took responsibility for the loss against Al-Hilal, stating after the match that his team lacked the sharpness and fighting spirit required, in a match where he described the leader as being much better.

The board of directors of Al-Taawoun has decided to appoint Jihad Al-Hussein to take over the role of head coach for the first team in the upcoming period, succeeding Žarko Lazić.
