Trabzonspor continues to bleed points ahead of Galatasaray clash
Trabzonspor suffered a surprising defeat against Konyaspor, losing 1-0 in the fifth round of the Turkish Süper Lig, which dealt the team a heavy blow ahead of their upcoming clash against Galatasaray in the next round.
Konyaspor secured the match with an early goal from Tuth in the 2nd minute, after the attack began with a pass from Moulika to Gonsalves inside the penalty area, before the latter passed the ball to Tuth, who executed a precise low shot from in front of the penalty spot that found the back of the net.
The hosts tried to extend their lead, with Gonçalves almost doubling the score in the 3rd minute, but his shot hit the post. In the 28th minute, goalkeeper Onana excelled in saving two consecutive attempts from Deniz Türüç, keeping Trabzonspor's hopes of a comeback alive.
In the second half, Fabinho came close to equalising in the 55th minute, rising for a corner and heading the ball that rebounded off the post, before Aral Şimşir's shot went over the crossbar. In the 76th minute, Cabral struck a powerful shot from distance, but it went into the side netting.
Konyaspor ended a run of four consecutive defeats, lifting their tally to 3 points and placing them 16th. In contrast, Trabzonspor suffered their second defeat in the last three matches, leaving them with 7 points in 6th place.
Trabzonspor are preparing to host Galatasaray in the sixth round of the Turkish Süper Lig, in a match where the team aims to compensate for their loss and return to winning ways.
