Borussia Dortmund refuse to renew Ramy Bensebaini's contract

Algerian Ramy Bensebaini has received another blow regarding his future with Borussia Dortmund, as German reports have revealed that the club's management is leaning towards not renewing his contract, which expires in the summer of 2027.

The German magazine 'Kicker' has reported that there is an agreement between the coaching and administrative staff at Borussia Dortmund not to extend the contract of Algerian defender Ramy Bensebaini, given his recent decline in performance, which has placed him outside the club's future plans.

Ramy Bensebaini has had a disappointing start to the current season, as he performed modestly during the match against Bayern Münich in the German Super Cup, before suffering an injury that complicated his chances of securing a starting position in Niko Kovač's lineup.

According to the same report, the Algerian player will be able to negotiate and sign with any new club starting January 2027, while completing the current season with Borussia Dortmund before leaving for free at the end of his contract in the summer of the same year.

This decision places Ramy Bensebaini in a different phase of his European career, having become accustomed in recent years to moving between clubs in the old continent. He has successfully built a professional path that has seen significant development before his calculations became complicated as he approaches the end of his time at Borussia Dortmund.

Ramy Bensebaini has joined Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023 and has played 107 matches for the team so far, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.
