Mariska: We will gradually reach the required level, and this is what we deserve
Enzo Maresca, the manager of Manchester City, spoke about his team's 2-0 win against Porto in the Champions League, expressing his satisfaction with the players' performance, although he noted the possibility of scoring more goals, especially during the first half.
Mariska said: "I think we could have scored more goals, especially in the first half. But overall, we deserved to win the match, we created enough chances to secure the victory, and we didn't concede many opportunities."
He added: "It is natural for us to come here and face some difficulties, so I am generally happy with the performance."
"If you think you can come to this stadium and play without allowing the opponent anything, that is not realistic. It is natural for them to create some chances. They did not create many, there were some movements and some mistakes from us, but I think that is normal."
"I am very lucky because most of the team members, or all of them, are good players. For the coach, it is easy because you can give all the players minutes to participate. The players who participated today were very good."
He explained: "We will reach what we want. It has only been a month and a half since we started working together. We are trying to do different things. Certainly, when there is space behind the defensive line, we must play the ball into it because we have players capable of causing danger."
He concluded his statements by saying: "Erling is here, Antoine is here, and when Jérémie returns, he will be here too, and Ndai is here, so we will use this option. Certainly, we could have played some balls behind the defensive line tonight, but gradually, step by step."
