Mahrez on the brink of Al-Shabab.. agreement for two seasons and one obstacle
Algerian international Riyad Mahrez is on the verge of embarking on a new experience in the Saudi Pro League, having come close to joining Shabab Al-Aqaba Club with a preliminary agreement between the two parties regarding the details of the transfer.
Reports indicate that Al-Shabab have reached an agreement with Riyad Mahrez regarding the financial aspects and duration of the contract, with the player set to sign for two seasons. Meanwhile, the necessary administrative steps are ongoing in preparation for the official announcement of the deal.
One file remains to be resolved before the Algerian star's transfer to Shabab Al-Aqaba Club can be completed. The club's management is awaiting a decision from Dutch coach Thomas Letch regarding which foreign player will leave the team's roster, allowing Mahrez to be registered among the foreign players.
The determination of which player will be let go represents the final hurdle for the management of Shabab Al-Aqaba Club, with indications that the deal could be completed and an announcement regarding the signing of Riyad Mahrez could come in the next few hours, once this matter is resolved.
If he moves to Shabab, Mahrez will return to the Saudi Pro League after previously wearing the Al-Ahli shirt, where he had an experience that saw him achieve several titles, most notably the AFC Champions League Elite.
Riyad Mahrez's transfer to Shabab Al-Aqaba Club is attracting significant interest due to the player's technical value and experience, as the club seeks to strengthen its squad during the current transfer window.
Riyad Mahrez has become a free agent since the end of June, after Al-Ahli terminated his contract unilaterally, with the player receiving financial compensation amounting to 15 million euros.
