Shabab Al-Khalil and Jabal Al-Mokabber open the epic of the Martyrs' Cup today

With the blessing of God, the wheel of Palestinian football is set to turn again after a long pause of three years due to the genocide in Gaza. This will be marked by the start of the 'Martyrs' Cup' competitions, featuring all clubs from the West Bank, in a national sports scene that brings together the Palestinian sports family in one day.

The tournament today features an opening match between Shabab Al-Khalil and Jabal Al-Mokabber Al-Maqdisi Club, in a game that carries both sporting and national significance, and comes as part of efforts to restore official sports activity to the Palestinian pitches.

The Football Association confirmed that the launch of the name 'Cup of the Thousand Martyrs' is a tribute to the martyrs of the sports movement who fell in the homeland, especially in Gaza, during the war, and to commemorate their memory.

The Football Association has approved the tournament to be held in a knockout format, with the participation of 146 clubs from the West Bank, with groups of teams qualifying for the later stages leading to the determination of the champion.

The tournament gains special significance after years of inactivity, representing a new step towards restoring Palestinian sports life. Those in charge hope it will mark the beginning of a gradual return to official competitions.
