Officially: Egypt national team faces South Africa in friendly

Ibrahim Hassan, the director of the Egypt national football team, has announced that they have decided to play a friendly match against South Africa in October as part of the Pharaohs' preparations for the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027.

Ibrahim Hassan has confirmed that the match will take place on October 4 at Cairo International Stadium, in a clash where the coaching staff led by Hossam Hassan aims to prepare the players optimally before continuing their journey in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Egypt's national team will play two matches during the ongoing September camp against Ethiopia and South Sudan, facing Ethiopia on September 25 at Cairo Stadium, before meeting South Sudan on September 29 in Juba, as part of the first and second rounds of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027.

The agreement to face South Africa in a friendly is part of the coaching staff's plan to give players more cohesion and strong competition, as well as to assess the readiness of key players and substitutes ahead of upcoming official commitments.

Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the national team, hopes to utilize the upcoming international matches to reach the best possible lineup for the Egypt national team, while continuing to work towards achieving the Pharaohs' goals in the upcoming competitions.
