Exciting clash in Baghdad: Al Zawraa and Zakho face off in battle for three points

Al Zawraa Stadium in Baghdad is set to host the top clash of the fourth round of the Iraqi Premier League this evening, as "the Swans" welcome Zakho at 9 PM Baghdad time.

The match has a special significance for both teams. Al Zawraa are looking to confirm their resurgence, while Zakho are aiming to snatch all three points from Al Zawraa's home ground and continue their impressive form this season.

Al Zawraa enter the match with high spirits after achieving a significant moral victory in the last round against Naft Maysan with four goals to nil at the same venue. That win restored hope and spirit to the players and fans after a shaky start with two draws against Al Minaa and Karbalaa.

Al Zawraa currently sit fourth in the standings with 5 points and hope to leverage home advantage and their fans to climb further up the table.

The team has concluded the summer transfer window with strong signings, including the return of 'the maestro' Hassan Abdul Karim Quqia and the acquisition of Nigerian midfielder Essien Adem, which provides the coach with new options in midfield.

Zakho shows a different form this season despite early setbacks, currently sitting in ninth place with 4 points from one win, one draw, and a single loss to Al Minaa 2-1.

But the most important aspect is the transfer market that the club has ignited. The "Sons of Khabour" have made major and impactful signings, including Iraqi national team star Ali Jasim coming from Como, alongside centre-back Akam Hashim, Mustafa Saadoun, and Haroun Ahmed.

In general, the team possesses some very distinctive star elements and is working hard to secure all three points against Al Zawraa at their home ground to demonstrate that they are real competitors for the top four this season.

Al Zawraa's matches against Zakho have always been competitive and thrilling in recent seasons.

In their last two encounters last season, the teams drew away at Zakho, while Al Zawraa won at home 4-2.

In the last 5 matches between the two teams, the results were as follows: 3 draws, a win for Zakho, and a win for Al Zawraa. These figures confirm that the balance is close and that any result is possible.
