Tottenham Signs Brazilian Winger Savinho

Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the signing of Brazilian winger Savio from Manchester City, making the 22-year-old player a Spur for a fee of £75 million plus £10 million in add-ons.

Savio expressed his happiness about moving to Tottenham, confirming that the opportunity represents an important step in his career. He said: "It took some time, but I am very happy to be here. It’s a great opportunity at a special club, with one of the best coaches in the world."

The Brazilian player stated: "As soon as I spoke with the head coach, I realized I had to come here. He told me he wants to help me reach my highest level, and I believe we can achieve that together as a team."

Johan Lange, Tottenham's sporting director, praised Savio's abilities, confirming that the club has been tracking the player for a while. He stated that Savio's potential, style, and personality align perfectly with the team the club is working to build.

Roberto De Zerbi, the head coach of Tottenham, described Savio as a player with energy, imagination, and quality in wide attacking positions, noting his courage to take on defenders and his ability to change the course of matches with his creativity.

Sávio began his career with Atlético Mineiro, making his first-team debut at just 16 years old in 2020, before moving to French side Troyes. He then had loan spells with PSV Eindhoven and Girona, with his time at Girona marking a significant turning point in his career. He enjoyed a remarkable season, helping the team secure a third-place finish in La Liga and qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history. Sávio played 41 matches for Girona, scoring 11 goals.

In July 2024, Savio transferred to Manchester City and made his debut during the Community Shield match, before playing his first game in the Premier League. He scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League in January 2025. During his time at Manchester City, the Brazilian winger participated in 84 matches, netting 7 goals, and was part of the team that clinched a domestic double this year after winning the EFL Cup and the FA Cup.

On the international front, Sávio has represented various Brazilian youth teams before receiving his first call-up to the senior national team in March 2024. He made his international debut against England in a match that ended with Brazil winning 1-0 at Wembley Stadium. Sávio also participated with the Brazilian national team in the 2024 Copa América, and he currently boasts 13 international appearances for the senior team, during which he has scored one goal.
