Gonçalo Inácio on Barcelona's Radar to Strengthen Defense

Portuguese defender Gonçalo Inácio of Sporting Lisbon has been linked with a move to Barcelona, amid speculation about his potential departure from the Portuguese club in the near future, according to Portuguese channel "Now Canal."

The discussion about Inácio's future arose after the defender unexpectedly sat on the bench for Sporting during the match against Alverca in the Portuguese league, which ended with his team winning 3-1, despite having played fully in the first two league matches of the season.

Milan is one of the top clubs interested in signing Ignacio, especially since Ruben Amorim, the former Sporting coach and current manager of the Italian team, has previously relied on the Portuguese defender and given him an important role in the squad.

Meanwhile, Barcelona has joined the list of clubs linked with the player, amid potential developments regarding the futures of Alejandro Balde and Jules Koundé, after Hans Flick left the door open for the duo's future ahead of the match against Elche.

Inácio, 24, has extended his contract with Sporting until 2030 after renewing it in December 2025. The release clause in his contract is set at €60 million.

The Portuguese defender is distinguished by his ability to build play from the back, and being a left-back makes him an important option for Barcelona, who only have Gerard Martin in this position.

According to "Mundo Deportivo," Inacio is being closely monitored by the club. He has played 261 official matches with Sporting since his debut with the first team, scoring 24 goals and providing 15 assists.
