Portuguese football legend Luis Figo has launched a fierce attack on FIFA President Gianni Infantino, demanding his resignation due to the significant controversy surrounding his controversial plan to sell shares of World Cup rights to private investors.

Luis Figo, the former star of Barcelona, Real Madrid, and the Portuguese national team, described the proposal that Infantino retracted after widespread criticism as "the lowest and most deceptive and selfish behavior" he has witnessed in the world of football.

Luis Figo expressed his views in an article published by the Daily Mail: "I could write 10,000 words about FIFA's problems, but the solution only requires three words: Infantino must go."

The former Portuguese star added that Infantino "lied, deceived, and tried to pursue his personal interests at the expense of the game he is supposed to serve," considering that he has lost the support of several senior officials and close associates within the football system.

Figo continued his attack, stating: "He has diminished the stature of the FIFA presidency, which he promised to elevate when he took office in 2016."

Figo stated that the time has "passed to save Infantino's dignity, but it is not too late to save football," before reiterating his demand for Infantino's immediate resignation from the presidency of FIFA.
