New Surprises Await Iraq's Premier League Next Season

The new season of the Iraq Stars League 2026-2027 is approaching, scheduled to start this August, amid intensive preparations by the Iraqi Football Federation to conduct the draw and announce all the details of the season.

The draw ceremony for the league is set to take place on Friday, August 7, at the Heart of the World Hotel in the capital, Baghdad.

The event will include the unveiling of the complete season fixture list consisting of 38 rounds, along with the dates and kick-off times, as well as the announcement of this year's Super Cup format.

For the first time since last season, the opening ceremony and first match will return to the Kurdistan region, with the Nawruz Stadium in Sulaymaniyah hosting the official opening events.

The official ball for the new season will be showcased during the draw ceremony.

The ball is produced by global brand Adidas, featuring a design inspired by the colors of the Iraqi summer and the logo of the Stars League. It is manufactured according to the specifications approved by FIFA.

The new referee kits for the league will be unveiled in four primary colors: green, blue, black, and yellow, all featuring the league's logo.

The development plan also includes the adoption of a unified uniform for ball collectors and match organizers, as part of the strategy to standardize the visual identity of the matches.

The official sports channel will continue to air all league matches as the exclusive broadcaster.

This season features a development plan introducing modern broadcasting vehicles and advanced cameras to enhance coverage quality.

One of the most notable technical additions is the introduction of the "Spider Cam" in Iraqi stadiums for the first time, providing cinematic shots and angles.

In contrast, broadcasting or coverage via unlicensed social media platforms will be prohibited to safeguard the marketing rights of clubs and the competition.

League matches will be played regularly on Fridays and Saturdays each week.

The regulations permit each club to register 7 foreign players, with a maximum of 5 professionals allowed to participate in a single match. This aims to provide greater opportunities for local players.
