Hassan Abdul Karim Starts Professional Journey with Çorum, Aims to Learn from Ali Jassim's Lesson
Hassan Abdul Karim "Quqia", the Iraqi national team player, is experiencing a positive phase in his football career with his new team Çorum FK, despite it being his first professional experience. The player began his journey with Iraqi clubs in 2018 when he represented Al-Shorta.
Turkish club Çorum announced on July 8 that they have signed a 27-year-old Iraqi player, marking his first professional experience with the team newly promoted to the Turkish Süper Lig for the first time in its history, as they gear up for the 2026-2027 season.
Hassan Abdel Karim has shown great integration with the Turkish side Çorum FK, despite having only recently made his move. He has formed several friendships within the team and is enjoying his time with his teammates both during training and outside of it, which is a positive sign for a player embarking on his first professional experience.
The Iraqi player is keen to fulfill his dream of representing the team in the best possible way and becoming one of the stars of Çorum in the Turkish Süper Lig, which enjoys wide attention in Europe. He has also recently started taking Turkish language lessons from an Iraqi person he met in Turkey, based on advice from his agent who resides there.
Hassan Abdul Karim's agent is also the representative of Iraqi player Ali Jassim, who joined Turkish side Antalyaspor in the summer of 2023. However, Jassim's stay lasted only one day before he announced his inability to represent the team, leading to a swift end to his trial for various reasons.
The challenges faced by Ali Jassim have been well-studied by Hassan Abdul Karim, who insisted on pursuing a professional experience in Turkey with a different mindset, fully concentrating on football and excelling in training to secure a real opportunity to participate in the new season. This is especially important as Corumspor will face Galatasaray in their opening match of the Turkish Süper Lig.
Hassan Abdul Karim has moved to Çorum on a free transfer after his contract with Al-Zawraa ended this summer. He becomes the ninth Iraqi player to experience professional football in Turkey, following in the footsteps of eight others, including Ali Adnan, Dhurgam Ismail, and Osama Rashid.
