Esperance de Tunis has officially closed the file on renewing the contract of Algerian star Youcef Belaïli, despite having previously reached a preliminary agreement to extend his contract for an additional two seasons.

The club confirmed in an official statement that the decision came after exhausting all stages of negotiation and the expiration of all agreed deadlines between the two parties without completing the signing procedures.

Esperance has confirmed that the management has met all its commitments to the player, having made a financial offer that maintains his previous salary without any reduction, in addition to settling his financial dues and providing all necessary documents to support his case before the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Furthermore, the club has set multiple dates for conducting medical examinations and signing the new contract.

The statement indicated that an agreement was initially reached to complete the renewal procedures on July 21, but Belaïli did not attend. The club then gave the player and his agent a final opportunity by setting July 23 as the deadline for the medical examination and contract signing, but that date also passed without their presence, prompting the management to close the file definitively.

Esperance Tunis concluded its statement by affirming that the interests, stability, and prestige of the club remain above all else, wishing good luck to Youssef Belaïli in his next chapter.

The club has also revealed that it is beginning to study new options in the transfer market to bolster the squad in line with the coaching staff's vision and the goals for the new season.
