CAF Executive Committee Meeting in the USA Canceled
Reports indicate that the scheduled meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) executive committee has been postponed to a later date following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup.
According to sources, the reason for the postponement is the absence of a large number of executive committee members, who were unable to be present in the United States, the location where the meeting was scheduled to take place.
Hani Abou Rida is expected to submit an official request to increase the number of clubs participating in the African Champions League and the African Confederation Cup during a meeting, as part of proposals to develop continental competitions in the upcoming seasons.
Reports indicate that the African Football Confederation will also delay the discussion on the implementation of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in the group stage to a later time, with plans to include it in the agenda of upcoming executive committee meetings.
These issues are expected to receive significant attention once CAF meetings resume, due to their direct impact on the structure of African competitions and the level of continental officiating in the coming years.
