Official: Mbappé Wins Golden Boot at 2026 World Cup
French star Kylian Mbappé has been awarded the Golden Boot at the 2026 World Cup, finishing the tournament as the top scorer with 10 goals, benefiting from Lionel Messi's failure to find the net in the final against Spain.
Argentina's national team lost the 2026 World Cup title after falling to Spain 1-0 following extra time, leaving Messi with 8 goals in the tournament and securing the second spot in the top scorers' ranking.
With this, Mbappé has also clinched the title of all-time top scorer in World Cup history, raising his tally to 22 goals, one ahead of Argentine star Lionel Messi, who has 21 goals.
Spain has claimed the World Cup title for the second time in its history, following their victory in the 2010 tournament.
