Aymeric Laporte Offered to Barcelona
Emmerick Laporte's name has returned to the list of players linked with a move to Barcelona during the summer transfer window, following reports from Cadena COPE that the player has recently been offered to the Catalan club, amid his impressive performances with the Spanish national team alongside Pau Torres during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Aymeric Laporte, 32, is delivering standout performances for the Spanish national team, but he remains a key figure at Athletic Bilbao, who re-signed him around ten months ago from Al Nassr for €10 million. The defender is under contract until the summer of 2028.
Despite the player's name being linked to Barcelona, finalizing the deal appears complex. Mundo Deportivo reported that the strained relationship between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, stemming from the Nico Williams situation in the summers of 2024 and 2025, makes the Basque club unwilling to offer any concessions should Barcelona decide to make a formal move for Laporte.
This is not the first time Aymeric Laporte's name has been associated with a transfer to Barcelona, as the Catalan club has shown interest in signing him on multiple occasions. However, Athletic Bilbao's refusal to negotiate at that time led the player to join Manchester City during the winter transfer window of the 2017/2018 season.
