France is set to face Paraguay on Saturday evening in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup in Philadelphia, USA, with concerns about the impact of severe weather on the match.

According to "Foot Mercato", a severe heatwave is hitting the eastern coast of the United States, with temperatures in Philadelphia expected to reach around 38 degrees Celsius, and a heat index potentially ranging from 40 to 46 degrees, along with the possibility of thunderstorms that could affect the match.

The report noted that these conditions could lead to the match being disrupted or postponed if they become dangerous, similar to the previous encounter between France and Iraq, prompting the International Federation of Professional Footballers to call for adjustments to the match schedule to ensure the safety of players and fans.

Despite this, there are currently no plans to change the timing of the France vs Paraguay match, as the French coaching staff continues to prepare to cope with the high temperatures and look to exploit them during the game.

Desiree Doy confirmed that the French team is aware of the challenging weather conditions, stating that the heat affects effort and concentration, but emphasized that the players have gradually acclimatized and are ready for the match.

Meanwhile, head coach Didier Deschamps explained that the coaching staff has established protocols to mitigate the impact of the heat on the players, expressing hope that a long stoppage due to thunderstorms, like the one experienced against Iraq, will not be repeated.
