Xhaka on the Verge of Joining Chelsea
Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Chelsea is considering signing Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka during the current summer transfer window, in a deal that could be a surprise in the midfield.
According to what Roma reported on their account on the X platform, Xhaka has expressed his desire to return to the English capital, London, and has informed those close to him of his wish to work again under the leadership of Xabi Alonso.
The source added that the player is ready to accept all the contractual terms set by Chelsea in order to complete his transfer to the Blues, amid ongoing negotiations between all parties to finalize the deal.
Xhaka had worked with Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, and together they managed to achieve many accomplishments, including winning the Bundesliga, the German Super Cup, and the DFB-Pokal.
Xhaka joined Sunderland in the summer of 2025 for 15 million euros, and his contract with the English club extends until the summer of 2028.
