Trincão: Happy for Ronaldo, and This is What We Must Do
The Portuguese player Francisco Trincão said he felt proud after his national team's significant 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan in the 2026 World Cup, in a match that saw the brilliance of captain Cristiano Ronaldo who scored two goals, becoming the first player to score in six different editions of the World Cup.
Trincão said: "We are happy for Ronaldo. It is a great honor to be part of this team and to play with Cristiano. He is the best, and we want to enjoy having him until the end. He will continue to score goals, and we want to help him, as happened in this match."
He added, "We know that criticism is part of the game and that the matches are tough; this is the World Cup. But the most important thing is unity. We knew that, and Cristiano helps us with this as well. He played a great match, and we should be happy."
He emphasized, "The mentality was good. We improved a lot compared to the first match, and we shot more on goal, which makes winning easier."
Regarding the upcoming match against Colombia, he said: "The goal is always to win, and now we must focus on recovery."
He concluded his statements by saying: "We shouldn't be too upset when we draw or lose, nor should we be overly jubilant when we win. We must always maintain the same dynamic and know what we need to do on the field."
