New Zealand Coach Comments on 3-1 Loss to Egypt
Darren Bazeley, the head coach of the New Zealand national team, spoke about his team's loss to the Egyptian national team early Monday morning in the World Cup.
The New Zealand team lost to Egypt with a score of 3-1 in the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
The New Zealand coach said in statements published by the FIFA website: "It's disappointing. We were at our peak in the first half, where we dominated possession and created many chances."
He continued: "In the second half, we performed well, but we couldn't keep up with the pace of the match. The Egyptian team increased their level of play, and we couldn't replicate the outstanding performance we showed in the first half. In the end, this had a negative impact on us, and we are still one match away from achieving a historic milestone. We know we are required to win against Belgium now."
With this victory, Egypt's tally rose to 4 points, topping the group standings, while New Zealand's tally remained at one point, placing them fourth and last.
