Egyptian Doctor Explains Details of Fathy and Abdel Meguid's Injuries

Dr. Mohamed Abou El-Ela, the doctor of the Egyptian national team, revealed details of the injuries sustained by Hamdi Fathi and Hossam Abdelmagid during the match against New Zealand, which ended with a 3-1 victory for the "Pharaohs" in the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

Abu Al-Ala explained that Hamdi Fathi complained of pain in the hamstring during the match, which prompted the technical and medical staff to decide to substitute him to prevent the injury from worsening.

The Egyptian national team doctor also noted that defender Hossam Abdel Mageed suffered a strong impact to the head following a collision with one of the New Zealand team's forwards, which necessitated his exit from the field. Mohamed Abdel Moneim then participated as his substitute during the match.

These developments came after the significant victory achieved by the Egyptian team over their New Zealand counterpart, winning three goals to one. This result gave the "Pharaohs" a strong boost in the race to qualify for the next round of the World Cup.
