Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, the star of the Egyptian national team, expressed his happiness with the historic victory achieved by the Pharaohs over the New Zealand team in the World Cup.

The Egyptian national team defeated New Zealand 3-1 early Monday in the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

Trezeguet said in a television interview after the end of the match: "We are extremely proud of the performance and the result achieved, and thank God we were able to bring joy to the great Egyptian people. We promise the fans to always deliver better in future encounters. We achieved a historic victory and we want the future to be even better."

Regarding the turning point in the match and the improved performance during the second half, the Egyptian star explained that the coaching staff gave the players specific and strict instructions during halftime, stating: "There were clear instructions at halftime, and all the players adhered to them precisely on the field, and everyone saw how everything changed for the better in the second half."

This victory is considered the first for the Egyptian national team in the history of the World Cup tournaments, in their fourth participation after three participations without achieving any wins.
