Paris Saint-Germain's Plan to Decide the Future of Goalkeeping

Wednesday 17-06-2026
Paris Saint-Germain continues to work on reorganizing the goalkeeper position within the team, amid a clear change in the ranking of goalkeepers in recent times.

According to the French newspaper "L'Équipe," the goalkeeper Matvey Safonov has established himself as the first choice within the team after gradually proving himself throughout the season and contributing to the club's victory in the UEFA Champions League, which solidified his position in the starting lineup.

On the other hand, Lucas Chevalier, who joined from Lille for 55 million euros, has seen his ranking decline, with several clubs monitoring his situation, including Tottenham and Besiktas. There is a possibility of his departure if a suitable offer comes in, which might prompt the club's management to reassess the goalkeeping position structure.

In this context, the Parisian club has started moving early towards young talents. The same newspaper indicated that the young Italian goalkeeper Renato Marin, who is 19 years old and comes from Rome, is being monitored within the club, with a plan to loan him out to gain experience amid interest from clubs in the French league and beyond.

At the same time, Paris Saint-Germain is monitoring the young goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni, an 18-year-old player from Milan, who is considered one of the most promising talents in the goalkeeper position in Europe.
