Wednesday 17-06-2026
The French star Kylian Mbappé increased his tally to 14 goals in his World Cup history after scoring two goals against Senegal in the first round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

Thanks to his two goals, the captain of the French national team succeeded in surpassing several global football legends on the list of the tournament's all-time top scorers. He surpassed Brazilian Pelé, who had 12 goals, Frenchman Just Fontaine, who scored 13 goals, and Argentine Lionel Messi, who also has 13 goals to his name.

Mbappe equaled the record of the German legend Gerd Muller, who scored 14 goals, continuing his progress towards the top of the tournament's all-time scorers.

The French star is just one goal away from equaling Brazilian Ronaldo Nazario, who is in second place on the list with 15 goals. He is only two goals away from matching the record held by German Miroslav Klose, the all-time top scorer in the World Cup with 16 goals.

Mbappé has a golden opportunity to become the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history during the current edition, as he needs to score just three more goals to surpass all the names before him and take the top spot alone.

All-time top scorers of the World Cup:

16 goals — Miroslav Klose.

15 goals — Ronaldo Nazário.

14 goals — Kylian Mbappé.

14 goals — Gerd Müller.

13 goals — Lionel Messi.

13 goals — Just Fontaine.

12 goals — Pelé.
