Football fans around the world are turning their attention to the United States, Canada, and Mexico as the historic 2026 World Cup approaches. This will be the first time the tournament is jointly hosted by three countries, marking an unprecedented event in the history of the championship.

The World Cup competition kicks off on June 11 and continues until July 19, with a record participation of 48 teams competing for the most prestigious title in the world of football, amid widespread anticipation from fans for the awaited matches.

The famous "Azteca" Stadium in Mexico will host the opening match of the tournament, where the Mexican team will face the South African team in a match that inaugurates the new edition of the global football event.

In this context, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced the appointment of a Brazilian refereeing team to officiate the opening match, led by referee Wilton Sampaio as the main referee, assisted by his compatriots Bruno Pires and Bruno Boschilia.

FIFA assigned the role of fourth official to Paraguayan Juan Gabriel Benitez, thus completing the team responsible for managing the first match of the tournament, which is expected to attract significant global attention.
