Learn About the Numbers and Statistics of the Iraqi Stars League

Tuesday 02-06-2026
The curtain has fallen on the 2025/2026 Iraqi Stars League season with Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya securing their eighth title in history, after an exceptional season that saw the Falcons finish at the top of the standings with 89 points. The Blue team delivered a comprehensive performance that combined defensive solidity and offensive effectiveness, rightfully earning the title after a long battle with Al-Shorta and Al-Zawraa.

Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya not only topped the standings but also recorded the best numbers across both lines. They were the strongest defensively after Al-Karmah, conceding only 29 goals throughout the season, while scoring 62 goals to also have the strongest attack in terms of balance. Interestingly, Al-Shorta outscored everyone with 71 goals, but the difference in goals conceded decided the title in favor of the Falcons.

On the coaching front, Omani coach Rashid Jaber made history in the Iraqi league by becoming the first Gulf coach to win the Iraqi Stars League title with Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya. Jaber entered the hall of fame as the second Asian Arab coach to achieve the title after Syrian Nizar Mahrous, who won with Erbil earlier. Jaber's work with the current squad restored Al-Jawiya's prestige, making them the most consistent team in results until the final round.

At the bottom of the standings, the picture was grim for Al-Qasim and Al-Najaf. Al-Qasim finished the season in the twentieth and last place without achieving any victory, a disastrous record that ranked them among the worst teams in the world in terms of results this season. The team conceded 97 goals, marking the worst defense, and scored only 20 goals, also marking the worst attack. The lack of victories and modest results led the team directly to the first division.

Al-Najaf accompanied them to the premier league after finishing in nineteenth place, while Amanat Baghdad will play a survival playoff with one of the premier league teams to determine the identity of the qualifier or the remaining team in the Stars League for the next season.

Individual statistics saw the emergence of Uzbek Sherzod Temirov, Erbil's striker, who clinched the league's top scorer award with 28 goals.

Temirov made history as the first non-Arab Asian player to win the top scorer title in the Iraqi Stars League, leading his team offensively with his high goal-scoring sense and consistent performance.

After the season's conclusion, Al-Zawraa remains at the top of the list of clubs most crowned with the league with 14 titles.

Behind them are Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and Al-Shorta, each with 8 titles, then Al-Talaba with five titles, and Erbil with four. Al-Rasheed achieved the title three times, while each of Naft Al-Wasat, Duhok, Al-Mina, and Al-Jaish has one title in their historical record.
