The Senegalese Lamine Ndiaye, coach of the Algerian team USM Alger, spoke about his team's victory in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Union of the Capital won the Confederation Cup title by defeating Zamalek in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw.

In the press conference following the match, Lamine Ndiaye said: "We feel joy and pride in our victory over Zamalek in Cairo, as it is not an easy feat. We sought our balance and did not play as we should have in the first five minutes."

He added: "Regarding the match, despite falling behind, we did not retreat and played offensively. We faced counterattacks, and the opponent almost scored, but we controlled the game except for the penalty kick."

He continued: "Our style of play forced the opponent to retreat, and Zamalek's plan contributed to their withdrawal."

He explained: "We practice taking penalty kicks and we won the cup with them, and we are used to them in the Confederation. I had a list of the best shooters for the Zamalek team."

He emphasized, "We came to play and score, and we followed the plan, but we couldn't capitalize on our chances, which is our problem this season."
