Moatamed Gamal: We Faced Bad Luck and USM Alger Was Better Than Us

Zamalek coach Moatamed Jamal spoke about his team's loss of the CAF Confederation Cup title to Algerian club USM Alger.

Zamalek lost on penalties to USM Alger in the final of the CAF Confederation Cup at Cairo Stadium.

In the press conference following the match, Jamal Moatamed said: "The player's condition after taking the lead is a collective decision from the team. We retreated after the early goal because we were afraid, and we should have pressed on. Despite talking to the players, the fear of conceding created this situation, and USM Alger was better than us in the match overall."

He continued: "We preferred to play on transitions and changing Mahdi Suleiman created two stoppages for us, and each substitution and the course of the match did not help us."

He concluded: "We were not at our best, and we know the USM Alger team and their style of play, but there was some bad luck. We were keen on winning the title, and if we hadn't scored early, the desire would have been even greater."
