Trossard: We Knew What We Had to Do, and That's How I Scored My Goal
Arsenal star Leandro Trossard appeared in a press statement following the 1-0 victory over West Ham United in the 36th round of the English Premier League, at the London Olympic Stadium.
The player said, "What a joy! We knew what we had to do today, which was to secure the three points. It was a tough match, and we were fully aware of what they were fighting for, and they put on a strong performance. It's truly great to secure the three points here and return home victorious."
He added: "As you saw, a lot happened. At first, I didn't see what happened regarding the foul on David [Raya] because I was among the group of players. Raya was completely convinced it was a foul, so I felt a great relief at that moment. I thought it was a foul, but at that moment you can never be sure what the referee and VAR will decide. From the moment he said it was a foul, I felt a great relief."
He continued by saying: "Most of the time, you know the decision will be in your favor if the video assistant technology is used, because that means the video assistant has seen something. It must have been a mistake."
Regarding his goal: "Martin [Ødegaard]'s pass was incredible. He passed the ball to me perfectly, and at that very moment, I put all my effort and precision into shooting it into the net. I felt a great sense of relief after scoring that goal."
He concluded about getting closer to the title: "There is no need to explain the importance of this matter, as everyone knows. We have two very important matches ahead of us, and we fully believe in our ability to win, but we must work hard to secure the three points in the upcoming matches as well."
