Doku: Happy for Marmoush, and I Haven't Changed as a Player
Jeremy Doku, Manchester City player, spoke in a press statement following the 3-0 victory over Brentford in the 36th round of the Premier League, at the Etihad Stadium.
The player spoke about his goal: 'It is somewhat similar to my goal against Everton. We wanted to execute a short corner kick, I bypassed the defender and then looked for a pass between the players, the ball came back to me and I was inside the penalty area, I felt I had space to shoot, so I shot without thinking, and I'm happy it went into the net.'
Regarding whether he plays without much thought, he said: 'I am a player who relies on my intuition. Today, things are going well. I've scored some goals, I've always played with my intuition, but now the goals are coming consecutively. I haven't changed as a player.'
He added: 'After the first opportunity, the right-back tried to close the space in front of my right foot, so we opened up more on the right side and tested my speed. In the goal, I felt I had space to penetrate inside and I tried to shoot.'
About securing points, he said: 'Yes, I feel satisfied when the score is 0-0 against a team like this, a team dangerous in set pieces, we knew we needed to score.'
He concluded: 'When we scored the goal, spaces opened up, then we scored a second goal. We felt comfortable and happy, and we know we need the goals. I am happy for Omar Marmoush, he has been training hard, and this is the fruit of his efforts, so I am happy for him.'
