Iran Announces Participation in the World Cup and Sets Conditions for Host Countries
The Iranian Football Federation has announced that the Iranian national team will officially participate in the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. However, it emphasized the need to consider a number of demands and conditions specific to the Iranian delegation.
In an official statement, the Iranian Federation said: “We will definitely participate in the 2026 World Cup, but the host countries must take our concerns into account, and we will compete in the tournament without abandoning our beliefs, culture, and principles.”
According to Mehdi Taj, Tehran has presented ten conditions before the start of the tournament, most notably ensuring that entry visas are granted to all members of the Iranian delegation, in addition to respecting the Iranian flag and national anthem during the competitions.
The Iranian demands also included enhancing security measures at airports and hotels, as well as on the roads leading to the stadiums, in order to ensure the safety of the delegation throughout the tournament.
