Paris Saint-Germain Approaches Breaking Barcelona's Historic Record in the Champions League
Friday 08-05-2026
The Spanish newspaper 'Sport' revealed that Paris Saint-Germain is close to breaking the record held by Barcelona as the team with the most goals scored in a single Champions League season.

According to the report, Barcelona has held the record since the 1999/2000 season under the leadership of Louis van Gaal, after the Catalan team scored 45 goals during that edition of the tournament.

The report indicated that Paris Saint-Germain, led by coach Luis Enrique, raised their tally to 44 goals after defeating Bayern Munich in the semi-finals, leaving them just two goals away from surpassing Barcelona's historic record.

The Parisian team has qualified for the Champions League final for the second consecutive season after eliminating Bayern Munich, as they seek to claim the continental title once again.

The report also explained that Luis Enrique could achieve his third Champions League title as a coach, having previously won the tournament with Barcelona in the 2014/2015 season, and then with Paris Saint-Germain last season after a 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the final.

It is noteworthy that Paris Saint-Germain will face Arsenal in the Champions League final on May 30 in Budapest.
